Karen

Karen Finck

Karen is from Australia has been practicing yoga since 1989 and teaching since 1997. She is a Level Certified Teacher, a Member of the Australian Yoga Teachers Association and Iyengar Yoga Teachers Association. Karen is also a Qualified Certificate 4 Physiotherapy Assistant and holds a Diploma from the Australian School of Thai Massage. Karen has studied with one of Australia's most senior and well respected Iyengar Yoga teachers, Peter Scott and is a dedicated yoga practitioner and teacher who regularly attends workshops with leading instructors from around Australia and internationally. She has studied different lineages of yoga and sees all yoga as one without fragmentation.

Karen incorporated the Swing to develop perception, knowledge and alignment in to her personal Yoga practice almost 8 years ago. Since then she has also used the swing to assist her with personal injuries. This knowledge has been expanded upon over the years and subsequently imparted to her students allowing them to use the swing as a support to hold an Asana allowing the muscle body to strengthen and/or to become more open and flexible and improve misalignment in the body.

Karen was offered the opportunity to work in conjunction with Gravotonics to develop this knowledge and experience from her own practice and that of her students into a teaching role. She instructs how the swing integrates learning and develops precise alignment which also brings with it alignment of the mind and spirit. Through use of the Yoga Swing in the classical poses as set by Patanjali, she demonstrates how students can reach into the areas of their own practice to unlock areas of practice, realign and strengthen. Yoga practice can take on a new depth with support and open to a new deeper experience within Asanas with the use of the Swing.

As Yoga involves all the elements including the earth, Karen's teaching will show you how to improve your Asana practice by using the swing. This practice is NOT aerial, acro, anti gravity or flying yoga, gimmicks or the like which we believe are questionable to call yoga as yoga involves all the elements including earth and being grounded thereon.

Karen has taught Yoga Swing Workshops and Courses around the world in many locations including Dubai, Jakarta, Norway, Bali, London, France, Spain, Greece, USA and New Zealand with students from Switzerland, Finland, Singapore, Australia, Indonesia, Norway, India, New Zealand, Australia, England, Lebanon, Turkey, Germany, Austria, Sweden, Spain & the USA. Karen is passionate about the gifts yoga can bring to the individual to improve the quality of one’s life and how yoga practice can be enhanced with the use of the Swing as a prop as it assists on the journey of execution of Asanas.

Jo

Jo Tyson

Jo Tyson has been practicing IYENGAR yoga since 1988. She lives and works in France and completed her teacher training in Montpellier with Cathy Boyer and Christine Castillon. Jo also holds a teaching certification from the RIMYI (Ramamani Iyengar Memorial Yoga Institute in Pune) and continues to study with some of the best IYENGAR teachers in France, the UK and India.

Jo conducts weekly Yoga Swing classes at her centre in the south-east of France and regularly holds weekend workshops on various themes, some of which are Yoga Swing weekends. Like Karen, Jo is only interested in using the swing as an additional prop to those already developed by her yoga master BKS IYENGAR. In her own practice and Yoga Swing training, she has found this tool invaluable in helping with alignment in standing postures and developing strength and confidence in doing inversions and back extensions. Many of her own students have found the swing an invaluable addition to their own practice and Jo is very happy to be able to supply them with swings produced by Gravotonics.
